Initial situation & goal

Development of a website as a digital exhibition about Max Planck

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Max Planck Museum in Kiel, which is located on the campus of the CAU, a digital exhibition was to be published as a website. The content and design of the interactive website was conceived and developed as part of a cooperation project with students from the Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design. Our task was the technical implementation and advice on feasibility.

Our solution

Implementation of the interface with a Nuxt frontend and connection to a Strapi CMS

We used the JavaScript framework Nuxt.js to implement the exhibition. To enable the administration and further development of the exhibition content for editors at the university, the open source CMS Strapi was connected. The interactive centerpiece of the application is a timeline that offers an insight into the life and research of Max Planck with a historical background.

A particular challenge was the implementation of an interactive infographic to visualize Planck's discovery of the quantization of radiation. A switch for the plot variant can be used to switch between a linear and a double-logarithmic display. The Javascript library p5.js was used to render the curves.
Various interactive elements can be used to reveal information about Max Planck's life and research in a playful way. At various points on the website, additional information is displayed with subtle animations on mouse-over.
