Information on accessibility

We attach great importance to ensuring that our website is accessible and usable for all users. We are voluntarily committed to making our website accessible and enabling all users, regardless of their abilities, to use it equally.

Our accessibility measures

To ensure that our website is accessible, we have taken the following measures:

  • Structured content: We use a clear and logical structure to make it easier to navigate our website.
  • Alternative texts for images: We endeavor to provide meaningful alternative text for all images on our website.
  • Contrast and legibility: We ensure that the contrast of our texts and graphic elements at least meets the requirements of WCAG 2.1 conformance level AA. As far as possible, our contrasts even meet the stricter criteria of conformance level AAA. This ensures that the content is also easy to read for users with visual impairments.
  • Keyboard operability: Our website can be fully navigated using the keyboard.

Compliance with the Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG)

Although we are not legally obliged to do so, we endeavor to comply with the requirements of the Barrier-Free Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG), which regulates the barrier-free design of products and services. The BFSG implements the European Directive (EU) 2019/882 and ensures that people with disabilities have equal access to digital products and services.

The requirements of the BFSG include

  • Digital accessibility: ensuring that our digital offerings, including the website and mobile applications, are accessible to all users.
  • Training and awareness: Training our employees on the requirements of the BFSG and raising awareness of the needs of people with disabilities.
  • Monitoring and reporting: Regularly reviewing our digital offerings for accessibility and reporting on progress and measures for improvement.

Testing methods

Our website is regularly tested internally to check and continuously improve accessibility. We are guided by the following standards and methods:

  • Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1: We aim to meet conformance level AA, even achieving conformance level AAA for contrasts as far as possible.
  • Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG): Our accessibility measures meet the requirements of the BFSG.
  • WAVE audit: We use the WAVE tool to automatically check the accessibility of our websites. The WAVE tool helps us to identify errors and point out opportunities for improvement.
