Visual and technical modernization of the outdated website
The outdated TWINCORE website was to be modernized both technically and visually. At the same time, accessibility was to be implemented in line with the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, taking into account the new corporate design. The contract was awarded to us following a public tender.
Restructuring, redesign and development with modern CMS Strapi
We were able to convince TWINCORE to switch their content management system from Typo3 to Strapi and developed a modern, responsive and high-performance website on this basis. We used the Nuxt Javascript framework for the front end. Accessibility was implemented in accordance with the requirements of WCAG 2.2.

Indexed search function
As a research institute with a large number of publications, projects, news and researcher profiles, the website offers comprehensive information options. Due to the high volume of data and content, an indexed full-text search has been integrated, which makes all pages and entries searchable. Researchers and interested persons can access the desired information either via the search bar in the navigation or in the quick access on the homepage. The search index is generated via a separate Laravel application, which indexes the website at regular intervals and makes the search results available via a REST interface.
Transparent networking of research and collaboration
The website reflects the complex structure and hierarchy of the research institute, in which scientists work in working groups on projects and publications - often interdisciplinary and in cooperation with other teams. Thanks to intelligent linking, all content is automatically or manually interlinked so that participation in working groups, projects, publications and announcements remain traceable. Each researcher profile offers a complete overview of individual contributions and provides a transparent insight into scientific collaboration.
Automated publication overview
The website's list of publications automatically provides all work published by TWINCORE researchers. The latest publications appear directly on the homepage and can also be viewed in the directory and on the profile pages of the respective authors, working groups and projects. New publications are imported directly into the CMS by means of regular, automatic entry using keywords, so that the overview is always up to date and the scientific results can be viewed.
TWINCORE
TWINCORE is an interdisciplinary research center based in Hanover, where physicians and basic scientists work together on innovative solutions in the fight against infectious diseases. With a focus on translational research, it combines fundamental scientific findings with clinical development in order to make new therapies and diagnostic procedures available to patients more quickly. In addition, the scientists at TWINCORE make a decisive contribution to risk assessment in the run-up to clinical tests and thus support the development of new strategies against resistant pathogens.
