Initial situation & goal

Visual and technical modernization of the website

After winning the tender, we were commissioned to design and develop a modern and appealing website for the InNoWest joint project. The website is to be based on the existing design manual and will not only be barrier-free, but also contain special modules that support the presentation of regional cooperation between universities and local economic players. The aim is to present the cooperation in the region in a visually and content-wise appealing way.

Our solution

Implementation of an accessible website

The new website was developed on the Nuxt framework. Accessibility was implemented both visually and technically in accordance with the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The headless content management system Strapi was used to manage the content, which enables simple and flexible content maintenance.

Technologies used

Dynamic animation in the hero area

Both on the homepage and on various other pages, we have implemented an animated display in the Hero that changes every time the page is loaded. The animation uses design elements from the given design manual and visualizes the networking of universities and partners.

Interactive map with events and projects

We have created an interactive map of Brandenburg which shows all relevant events and ongoing projects of InNoWest. These are marked by clickable pins that link directly to the respective posts with more information. The module was implemented with Mapbox and was adapted to show only the regions in North-West Brandenburg where InNoWest is active.

Newsletter registration

Visitors can register for the newsletter via the corresponding module. This is linked to RapidMail, a software used by InNoWest to create and send the newsletter online.

Search

The navigation takes visitors directly to the global search, with which all pages of the website can be searched for specific terms. The matching entries are then displayed in an overview so that users can quickly and easily find the information they are looking for.

Interactive wiki function

In order to make it easier for visitors to understand the specific terms used in InNoWest's work, an interactive wiki function has been integrated. Words can be stored in the content management system and provided with explanatory texts and further links. When these terms appear on the website, they are automatically highlighted. Users can move their mouse over the terms to open a tooltip with a brief explanation, or click on the term to go to the full entry on the overview page.
