UI/UX support for internal software development
NPZ Innovation GmbH is developing its own software solution for plant breeding management. The solution, which was previously used as a desktop application, is currently being rebuilt as a modern web application in order to be more flexible and scalable in the long term. Internally, however, there is a lack of specialized UI/UX expertise to make the very complex interfaces - with large tables, numerous data fields and versatile interactions - optimally usable. The focus is on desktop use, supplemented by a mobile app for specific tasks in the field or in the warehouse.
Modular design system
In a compact design sprint, the foundations for a user-centered interface were laid together with the NPZ team. The aim was to establish a consistent and expandable design system that does justice to the complexity of the application and at the same time offers a clear visual language. Based on the Atomic Design approach, a component-based system was created that depicts central UI modules in a modular fashion. Initial interface elements were developed in terms of design and transferred into a scalable structure - with the aim of gradually developing the system further and making it usable across teams. A rudimentary branding was defined for the new software landscape, creating an initial visual identity with an app logo and basic design constants. This ensures recognizability across different platforms - both in the office and on mobile devices in the field.
