Citizen Science: Where does the fish on my plate come from?
Together with the Geomar Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research we worked on the citizen research project "Fish Detectives" in the science year of seas and oceans 2016*17. Children and young people were asked to collect, identify and send in fish samples from all over Germany, so that possible mislabelling on the packaging could be detected by DNA analysis.

The center conducts innovative research in the fields of oceanography, marine biology, geosciences and climate research. Through close collaboration between scientists from different disciplines, important knowledge about the oceans is gained here in order to better understand the effects of climate change and to develop sustainable solutions for the protection of marine ecosystems.
